This long county stretches from London, almost to the spires of Oxford, following the route of the River Thames. Indeed, much of the county lies close to one of four major rivers.
A large part of the Chiltern Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, runs along the south of the county and attracts many walkers and cyclists from London. Small villages and market towns, and an easy commute into the City has made ‘Bucks’ a target county for commuters who are keen to reside in rural England.
Buckinghamshire is home to Silverstone race track with its exciting car and bike track events in the year. However, most events in Bucks revolve around gentle, rural pursuits; with art and book festivals, carnivals and Morris dancers proving eminently popular with local residents.
