Millgate to preserve Cobham parkland
Millgate preserves future of Cobham green belt parkland at flagship Knowle Hill Park Country Estate Development
Millgate has confirmed that the 45 acres of Green Belt parkland and paddocks surrounding its Knowle Hill Park development in Cobham, Surrey will NOT be available to Elmbridge Borough Council as part of its search for new housing land in the Local Plan process.
Millgate is currently constructing 29 apartments and family homes surrounded by parkland and paddocks. Work on site, which commenced in late 2015, progressed well and the development officially launched in September 2016. In December 2016 Millgate learned the Council had suggested that the wider area, including Knowle Hill Park, was being considered for release from the green belt. This allocation was likely to be for several hundred new homes including public open space and this is currently out for public consultation by Elmbridge Borough Council.
Having learned of the Council’s strategic proposals, Millgate has consulted with its purchasers and other key stakeholders including the local ward councillors and Stoke D'Abernon Residents Association.
Having given this issue much careful consideration, Millgate has decided that the paddocks at Knowle Hill Park will not be developed now or at any time in the future. As such, the response to the Council has confirmed that the site is not available as part of the new Local Plan process. Furthermore a restriction will be placed on the paddock in perpetuity.
David Simpson, Managing Director of Millgate comments 'We feel that given the unique setting of the development, combined with the stunning views and natural beauty that is offered to new purchasers, it is not in the company’s interests or values to allow this historic setting to be lost.'
