Millgate scoops the big three at What House? awards

Millgate has been recognised not once but three times at the ‘Oscars’ of the housebuilding industry, the What House? Awards

Best Development - Woolley Hall, Littlewick Green

The company won an award for Best Luxury Development for its Englemere development in Ascot and also scooped Best Development for Woolley Hall in Berkshire, as well as a third award at Sundridge Park in Kent for Best House.

The What House? Awards which took place at The Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane on Friday 18th November, are a highly respected national symbol of prestige and excellence in housebuilding. This year, the ceremony was attended by in excess of 1,600 senior executives from UK housebuilding sector and celebrated the very best within the industry. The winners were judged by a panel of property experts, including architects, surveyors, property writers and industry specialists.

The What House? judges commented on Englemere: “Imposing but soft is a tricky palette to mix – the desire to whisper rather than shout opulence. Millgate has created the desired effect beautifully at Englemere – a development of 17 apartments from the fabric of the original 1815 house and its classical, Italianate façade. Millgate set out to “break up the imposing residence into more human spaces” and it is has achieved this. But you still know you are in something grand, with the luxury hotel-style entrance hall and the stone chequerboard flooring.”

The awards, presented by MP, William Hague, also saw Millgate win an award for Best House at Sundridge Park in Kent. The judges commented: “The properties have been carefully planned to provide beautifully lit living spaces that flow seamlessly into one another. A generous hallway with a high quality solid wood floor reinforces the attention to detail and gives the overriding impression of a special, non-standard product. The large kitchen/dining/family room creates a fabulous area for entertaining and relaxing alike and opens onto the terraced garden beyond.”

Jonathan Cranley, Sales and Marketing Director at Millgate commented: “It is a great pleasure for Millgate to have had such success at the most prestigious awards ceremony within the housebuilding industry. To win one award would be a great achievement, but to win three awards for our flagship sites, Englemere, Woolley Hall and Sundridge Park is a fantastic accomplishment in which every Millgate member of staff takes immense pride. These awards are dedicated to their outstanding endeavours this year.  Our talented team work extremely hard to create timeless homes and it is a real privilege to have this hard work recognised by the professionals within the sector.”
