Meet the Residents: Birgit Hoye at Kingswood

I knew from the moment I stepped through the door of the house at Kingswood that it would be difficult to beat

When it comes to buying property, first impressions really do count – and this was certainly the case for buyer Birgit Hoye when she first visited Kingswood, back in September 2019. We caught up with Birgit and talked about her relocation back to the UK, why she chose Ascot and her favourite things about Kingswood, the exclusive new development she now calls home.

What was it about Ascot and Kingswood that drew you in?

“I lived in nearby Windlesham for 23 years, before relocating back to my home country of Germany in 2007, but with my children based in London and Ascot I decided to move back to the UK. I knew the area well, so it was the natural choice. I knew from the moment I stepped through the door of the house at Kingswood that it would be difficult to beat - and I was right. It ticked all my boxes: the ideal location, beautiful interiors and more than enough space for guests.”

What were you looking for in your property search?

“My children are regular visitors, and I often have friends coming over from Germany to stay, so it was important I had enough space to host. I affectionately call the first floor my private apartment, and the second floor the guest suites!

“A generous open plan kitchen and living space was important to me, and my home at Kingswood has a generous open plan kitchen and living space as well as a first-floor drawing room with a terrace, so I have more than enough room to entertain. The hallway is so expansive I actually use it as an additional entertaining space too!”

What are your favourite parts of your new home?

“The more time I spend in the property, the more thoughtful details I uncover. The layout is very well designed, for how people will actually live in the property. Every detail has been thought out, from the high ceilings and traditionally-design coving and skirting through to modern conveniences like underfloor heating. The utility room is even finished to the same specification as the kitchen – not something I’ve seen before!”

How was it settling back into life in the UK?

“I previously lived in the county for over 20 years, so it already felt a little like home. Ascot and the surrounding area have a fantastic lifestyle offering, which I love. There are so many local green spaces like the Windsor Great Park, and the range of shops and restaurants in the town centre is fabulous. I like that I can hop on a train and be in London in less than an hour too – it’s very well connected!”
