In conversation with.........Cheese Etc.

We recently caught up with Cheese Etc, The Pangbourne Cheese Shop – a specialist cheese shop that is set in the heart of Pangbourne and located just a short walk from our Breedon Place development.

Selling everything from British and Continental cheese to various accompaniments including charcuterie, pate, and chutney, as well as wine, beer and cider, it is no wonder this is a local favourite!

Read on to find out more about Cheese Etc and some of the things the owners of the shop love most about the local area.

Please tell us about your business / what is it that you do?

We are Cheese Etc, The Pangbourne Cheese Shop. We are a specialist cheese shop set in the middle of Pangbourne. We sell a large variety of British and Continental cheeses as well as various accompaniments such as charcuterie, pate, crackers, chutneys, wines, beers and ciders. We also stock a range of giftware.

What bought you to Pangbourne?

We took over an existing business in 2015 but the shop itself has been in situ since 2005 and is going from strength to strength.

What is your favourite thing about working in the area?

Pangbourne itself is a wonderful place to be and everyone is super friendly and lovely

How do you describe the local area to your friends/family?

Pangbourne has such a strong village feel. It has become a real foodie destination and there are many small, independent shops. If you live in and around Pangbourne you can get all of your everyday essentials right here in the village. It’s a great place to be.

What is your favourite thing about owning your own cheese shop?

I love my job! Every day is different and it’s a great way of getting to know the local people.

How do you normally travel to the office?

We usually drive in to work from home, we have an electric car and are in the process of purchasing an electric van for our deliveries.

For someone new to the area, how would you suggest they get involved in the community? There are lots of sporting and social clubs to get involved with, but just being in the village will make you feel like you’re involved in the community. We have been in the shop for five years but from day one we were made to feel completely welcome by everyone.
