Gruelling challenge to raise funds for war against global poverty

An intrepid team from Millgate Homes is preparing to take part in a gruelling challenge to raise funds for Care International to support its mission to fight global poverty and injustice. The team will have 24 hours in which to climb the three highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales and will compete against other teams from the construction industry in the fourth annual Coins 3 Peaks Challenge.

The challenge will take place on 12th-13th May 2007 and will start at the foot of Ben Nevis in Scotland, moving to Scalfell Pike in the Lake District and concluding at the foot of Snowdon in North Wales, with 2 drivers supporting and transporting the team. The Millgate Homes team of 5 – Oliver Hicks, Jon Furneaux, Simon Holbrook, Richard Milton and Leanne Mawson has set a fundraising target of £6,000. Oliver Hicks explains:

“We are really excited to be taking part in what is undoubtedly the challenge of a lifetime – the team is training hard, but nothing can prepare us for the challenge itself. The event sees the construction industry really pull together for an excellent cause – a total of £888,570 since the first event in 2003.

“We still have some way to go to reach our fundraising target, and any donations would be gratefully received – and hopefully help to beat last years total of £270,000.”
