Raising a toast to regeneration...
To celebrate the launch of their new commercial venture, Beechwood Court, which consists of six new freehold office buildings in Woodcote near Reading, Millgate offered visitors to their stand at the Reading Property Conference the chance to win a Fortnum and Mason hamper packed with goodies.
As the hamper was presented at the Woodcote site, a twist of fate saw the winner, local businessman Mr Temple regaling tales from when one of his Companies held the Management Contract at the site during its former life as the Chiltern Queens bus depot.
Mr Temple explains:
“When I visited Millgate’s stand at the Reading Property Conference, I was intrigued to see how the old bus depot site was being regenerated. I think this project represents an excellent use of brownfield land and is really what regeneration is all about. Converting the land use to high quality office space is an ideal solution, for local businesses and residents alike - I am sure the local community will welcome the change from buses starting up their engines early in the mornings.
I found the visit to site very interesting, a vast improvement on what was here previously which has elevated the profile of the area enormously, and look forward to raising a glass or two to the success of the project as I enjoy my hamper.”
The development is set in an excellent location for communication networks and will benefit from the same high standards of build and specification that Millgate applies to its’ premium home developments. The first unit is due for completion in March 2006 and are ideal for those looking to invest in commercial property.
David Simpson, Director and General Manager of Millgate Homes explains:
“We ran the prize draw as a way of sharing our excitement about this project – we strongly believe that the Beechwood Court will provide prestigious office accommodation and an ideal investment opportunity for those looking to purchase through self invested personal pensions (SIPPS). As a Company, Millgate is very interested in regeneration, with 100% of our new homes developments being built on previously used land – the fact that Roger has a history with the site and is impressed with what we are doing is fantastic - we look forward to showing him around the finished site in April 2006. “
With changes in the rules for owning properties in SIPPS due next April, purchasers are encouraged to invest before then. The units at Woodcote can be combined to provide a variety of unit sizes, ranging from 1,388 sq. ft - 9,971 sq. ft (128.95 sq. m - 926.32 sq. m) with a freehold guide price of £285 per sq ft, or to let at a guide price of c. £20 per sq ft.
