Three years after graduating from University, Mellissa Sheppard, a young IT Sales Professional working for Holyport-based Axial Systems, started the search for her first home:

“With my student debts under control, I found myself in the position to get onto the property ladder – something that I have been keen to do for some time.

I started my search with a very clear idea of what I wanted – I knew that I wanted a new property as having a new, fully fitted kitchen and bathroom was very important to me, plus I wanted to be able to able to move straight in and enjoy my lifestyle without the burden of renovating or re-decorating associated with second-hand properties.

“Space was also important – I wanted a home with a good-sized living area in which to socialise, yet not too large for me to maintain. Another important factor was location. With my work based just outside Maidenhead in Holyport, my new home needed to have good access to road and rail networks, and be within a short commute of the office.”

Having spent some time researching the market, Mellissa visited Millgate Homes’ Braybrook apartments in Wokingham, and her decision was made:

“I was keen as soon as I found out that Millgate was building in Wokingham - I already live in the area so know that it is within easy reach of work, and my main social circle is based in and around the town. When I visited the show apartment I knew that Braybrook provided the perfect solution – although I was initially interested in a two bedroom property, the layout of the one-bedroom apartment and the generous size of its open plan living area won me over.

“The quality of finish throughout the apartment also impressed me, particularly the kitchen and bathroom – it was exactly what I had in mind.”

So smitten was Mellissa with Braybrook that she purchased the one-bedroom apartment off-plan, and is set to move in during February 2005:

“Millgate has been fantastic throughout – I have found the experience of buying off-plan particularly satisfying, as I have been able to put my own personal touch on the apartment.

“Overall, I couldn’t be happier with the choice I made or the service I have received – I can’t wait until I can move in and start enjoying my new home.”
